This time of year, the perfection of this heaven sent combination cannot be denied. Garden fresh, grown right here.

I’d Rather Be Gardening

July 18, 2012

Yes, it’s true, I really would rather be gardening. That is why it’s taken me so long to post these photos I took around my place in Falls Village the day I got back from Colorado (April 22nd.) After being in snow land for two months I was pretty excited to see things growing, especially from the bulbs I planted in the fall like the muscari pictured above, and these daffs below. Here’s my documentation of a spring day not so long ago:

Kitchen Garden

FALLS VILLAGE: Dug up a heavy layer of grass and weeds for a new bed right outside the back door to grow herbs, spices and other veggie type things useful in the kitchen. Here’s how it’s looking 2 and half months later…

I used old busted up records to create a border. They work real good, cause they are just about the perfect size, and are very effective for creating a solid crisp edge. Easy for mowing, as they give a little, so I never really have to weed whack!

“Wild” oak leaf lettuce (it now has self seeded next door at my dad’s house for over 5 years running.) Red leafed heirloom started from seed in the greenhouse.
nasturtium, seeds sown directly into the ground, flowers make an excellent addition to the garden salad.
